January’s severe storm

On the 6th of January 2013 a severe storm swept through the area between Wartburg and Harburg in the KZN Midlands.

The storm caused severe damage to pine plantations and buildings in the district. We estimate that over 300 hectares of pine plantations were damaged. Over 30 000 tons of pine will have to be cleared and harvested just from our suppliers alone. This is a huge loss for the pine timber farmers in the district.
